Wolverine: Revenge #3 – Review

Wolverine: Revenge #3 – Review

It’s time for another bloody issue of Wolverine: Revenge #3!

Hickman and Capullo are back with issue #3 of 5 in the current Wolverine: Revenge series. With Logan on a ruthless rampage, it seems there’s no stopping him.

Unfortunately, this issue was disappointing. As much as I enjoy Wolverine’s revenge-fueled murder spree, this installment doesn’t feel like it adds much to the overall story. In a miniseries with only five issues, there’s really no room for filler—but that’s exactly what this feels like. Sure, Wolverine takes care of some unfinished business, but it’s predictable and mirrors issue #2 so closely that you could probably skip it entirely and jump straight to issue #4 when it drops next month.

(Spoilers Ahead)

My favorite moment was the interaction between Logan and our favorite mercenary, Deadpool. It’s a surprisingly quiet, almost intimate exchange—unexpected but very enjoyable! I also loved the scene where the two slowly get melted by a nuclear power plant in meltdown. The visuals here are fantastic, an epic showcase of both mutants’ healing powers that’s gruesome yet impressive.

Capullo’s art remains the highlight, as always. His ability to bring this brutal, gory world to life is the most redeeming aspect of the issue. The Red Band treatment continues to deliver a raw, unforgiving atmosphere that suits Wolverine perfectly.

I wanted to love this issue but came away feeling indifferent. Perhaps in the collected edition, the pacing will feel more cohesive, but as a single issue, it left me disappointed. With only two issues left, I’m curious (and a little cautious) about where Hickman and Capullo will take the story next.
