Geiger #7 is out this week, which means we’re diving into the start of a new arc!
(As usual, spoilers ahead!)
After an excellent first arc, we resume the journey of Geiger, Nate, Barney, and the latest addition to their group – a three-eyed zebra named ZigZag. Together, they continue their quest to find a cure for Tariq Geiger’s radioactive condition. This issue also introduces a new artist, Paul Pelletier, who has taken over drawing duties for this issue bringing the world of Geiger to life with beautiful detail.
Speaking of the world-building, we’re introduced to a new species called Nightcrawlers – giant ants the size of elephants or horses. These creatures are both disgusting and beautifully drawn, reminding me of the massive insects from Fallout. I love how this series has taken the nuclear fallout trope and turned it into something unique. The political landscape, of a castle in Vegas ruled by kings, queens sending out their knights to hunt down Geiger.
One of the funniest moments in the issue happens when Barney, the three-headed dog, and ZigZag, the zebra, are crammed into the back of a Jeep. It’s a scene I never could have imagined, and it adds a light touch to such a savage world.
This issue slows down the pace a bit, allowing us to soak in more of the world rather than advancing the plot significantly. While not much happens story-wise, we do get to see Geiger in a few epic action panels.
Also, I have to mention that the cover A variant– it’s incredible!
Overall, this was a fun issue that expands the Geiger universe in a small but meaningful way.
