Wolverine: Revenge is Back!
After nearly three months, Hickman and Capullo return with Wolverine: Revenge #4, the penultimate issue of this 5-part series!
Spoilers Ahead!
When we last left off, Logan had just finished his ruthless rampage. Now, we fast-forward twenty years! I certainly wasn’t expecting such a big time jump, but I dig it. The Wild West vibes are the perfect backdrop for an older, grizzled Logan. Seeing how society and familiar characters have adapted to the events that kicked off this storyline was a really interesting touch.

Once again, I picked up the red-band edition, and this issue does not hold back. Some of the scenes here are downright gnarly. Watching Logan’s skin bubble, foam at the mouth, and still manage to tear through his enemies was as gross as it was impressive. Capullo’s art shines throughout. The panels are absolutely stunning, and the visuals alone make this issue worth reading.
That said, as much as I’ve enjoyed this series, I’m concerned that five issues might not be enough to tell the full story. While this issue, like the ones before it, is entertaining, it feels a bit like filler. In my review of Issue #3, I mentioned that it “doesn’t feel like it adds much to the overall story,” and I’m feeling the same way about this one. There is no true depth to the characters unfortunately. It’s fun, yes, but I was hoping for a bit more depth at this stage.
To sum it up, this issue feels like a mixed bag. The action is epic, the visuals are incredible, and I had a fun time reading it. But when I think about the bigger picture, it leaves me wanting more. Still, I’m hopeful the finale will deliver, and luckily, we won’t have to wait long—the final issue is set to release on March 26th (barring any delays).
